Laurie Halse Anderson

Laurie Halse Anderson (born October 23, 1961) writes for children and young adults. She is best known for her young adult novel Speak which won a number of awards, including a National Book Award nomination and Printz Honor Book, and has been adapted for the screen. Her novel Prom was a New York Times bestseller. Speak and Fever 1793 are used in school curriculums all over the United States. Speak is also used in many college classrooms. She should not be confused with the musician (and one-time children's book illustrator) Laurie Anderson, although Halse Anderson is often erroneously listed as Laurie Anderson in places like Amazon.
