Cats knead their paws to show contentment; it harkens back to when they were kittens and kneaded their mother to encourage milk flow. Whenever Rufus sees me, the claws start moving in and out of whatever they are on, and the purr motor starts a hummin'. After 40 years of playing aggressively with cats, I am all too familiar with cat claws!

Hmmm, what can I say about this shot? If you read the description if the photo posted before this, you'd know that I was feeling frustrated and at a standstill regarding my photography recently. At the same time, I had a lot of work to do and ended up not sleeping for 48 hours or so. This was shot sometime during my 46th hour of wake when I was feeling cray-cray and a bit out of it (this always happens when I do all-nighters, I feel crazy and on drugs).
After doing some work, I stared outside and everything looked so beautiful and magical (more of my sleep deprived hallucination?). Everything looked different to me, I could even see real-life-bokeh. Though obviously not to the same extent and only because I was sleep deprived and not wearing my glasses (as usual). Either way, it just really excited me and inspired me to run upstairs (all the way to the third floor!) and grab my camera and shoot away. I was really really excited and happy with what I saw on the LCD. It was only later that I realised that I had stumbled onto the elusive golden hour :D I went to sleep happy (and super tired) that day.
After I woke up though, I did feel a bit apprehensive. Sure I felt all swayed and optimistic, but what if I was just out-of-it? Thankfully my fear vanished after I loaded up the photos on my computer. And so to share the joy, I posted this up :) and I'm so glad you guys like it :D

This is Graycie, my sister's cat. On Christmas Day, I went over to my sister's house with the intention of capturing my 6 month old nephew on his first Christmas. However, my nephew had other plans, and decided to sleep through most of Christmas. Graycie, being the little show-off that she is, decided to take over, and was flaunting all her best stuff for my camera. She threw out a lot of fabulous poses, but I kinda liked the "contented head rub against the post" pose the best. :-)

A sound mind in a sound body, is a short, but full description of a happy state in this World: he that has these two, has little more to wish for; and he that wants either of them, will be little the better for anything else.
To be content with life -- or to live merrily, rather --all that is required is that we bestow on all things only a fleeting, superficial glance; the more thoughtful we become the more earnest we grow.
There are two kinds of discontent in this world. The discontent that works, and the discontent that wrings its hands. The first gets what it wants. The second loses what it has. There's no cure for the first, but success and there's no cure at all for the second.
