HELP KEVIN chose his next camera!!
My Canon Powershot G7 is past its best days. Please help me choose amongst these options:
a. The Canon 40d and 5d have both come down in price... buy my first DSLR and some nice lenses... standard solution.
b. Buy a nice 35mm or medium format film camera, like a Hasselblad or Rollei.
c. Don't buy anything and just learn how to do more stuff with computer post-processing like layering.
d. Don't buy anything. I'll get over my buying angst as soon as I can get outdoors more (its still 105F here!)

The Golden Reflections - The Dazzling Lights: Xi Men Ding
One's philosophy is not best expressed in words; it is expressed in the choices one makes. In the long run, we shape our lives and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And, the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility.
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.
You are now at a crossroads. This is your opportunity to make the most important decision you will ever make. Forget your past. Who are you now? Who have you decided you really are now? Don't think about who you have been. Who are you now? Who have you decided to become? Make this decision consciously. Make it carefully. Make it powerfully.
We stand now where two roads diverge. But unlike the roads in Robert Frost's familiar poem, they are not equally fair. The road we have long been traveling is deceptively easy, a smooth superhighway on which we progress with great speed, but at its end lies disaster. The other fork of the road -- the one less traveled by -- offers our last, our only chance to reach a destination that assures the preservation of the earth.
To every man there openeth A way, and ways, and a way. And the high soul climbs the high way, And the low soul gropes the low: And in between, on the misty flats, The rest drift to and fro. But to every man there openeth A high way and a low, And every man decideth. The way his soul shall go.
