It is not heroin or cocaine that makes one an addict, it is the need to escape from a harsh reality. A little bit about Chisholm, Shirley Anita

Shirley Anita St. Hill Chisholm (November 30, 1924 - January 1, 2005) was an American politician, educator and author. She was a Congresswoman, representing New York's 12th District for seven terms from 1968-1983. In 1968, she became the first African American woman elected to Congress. On January 23, 1972, she became the first African American candidate for President of the United States. She won 162 delegates. To date she is the closest any woman has ever come to winning the nomination for president by a major party.
