A bit about William Beebe ...

William Beebe (1877–1962) was an American naturalist, explorer, and author. Beebe wrote many popular books of his expeditions, some of which became best-sellers in the 1920s and 1930s. He was also a regular contributor to the National Geographic Magazine.
