Alan Alda (born Alfonso Joseph D'Abruzzo on January 28, 1936) is an Oscar-nominated and Emmy Award-winning American actor, writer, director and sometime political activist. He is most famous for his role as Hawkeye Pierce in the television series M*A*S*H.
