THIS SEEMS TO BE A CONTRADICTION, BUT I THINK WHAT JESUS WAS SAYING HERE IS THAT ALTHOUGH HE IS THE PRINCE OF PEACE LIVED A PEACEFUL LIFE BECAUSE OF HIS TRUTHFULLNESS IT CAUSED THE PHARASIES TO PLOT AGAINST HIM AND HE WAS TAKEN TO BE JUDGED BY A GROUP OF SOLDIERS BEARING SWORDS!

The "sword" Jesus is talking about is his sword of justice. Jesus also came to point out that people are sinners and deserve the sword of judgement which they will encounter unless they place their trust in Jesus to save them.
